Biophilic Cities by Timothy Beatley makes the case that having direct connections with nature is the key to being healthy and productive individuals. Given that most people today live in cities or rapidly urbanizing areas, buy VERMOX online cod, Where to buy VERMOX, the need for quality exposure to nature is even greater. He argues that nature should not be an after thought when developing our cities, online buy VERMOX without a prescription, VERMOX interactions, but rather treated as a co-evolving system, complementing our own built form, VERMOX photos. Nature in cities not only serves practical goals - such as water cleansing and habitat for animals-  it also instills awe and wonderment in those that come across it, VERMOX FOR SALE. Taking VERMOX, The goal of this book is to take the idea of biophilic cities from theoretical notions to practical reality. Consequently, VERMOX no prescription, VERMOX results, it's logically organized into 5 sections: The Importance of Nature in Urban Life, Nature in Cities, VERMOX blogs, VERMOX mg, Biophilic Cities, Biophilic Urban Design, buy VERMOX without a prescription, VERMOX dosage, and Tools for Fostering Biophilic Cities.

VERMOX recreational, While the concept of biophilic cities is well presented in this book, there could be more material in justifying its claims and differentiating it from other "green" approaches to planning, VERMOX class. Buy cheap VERMOX no rx, The author claims that biophilic cities are about much more than just the practical benefits associated with nature in cities. However, kjøpe VERMOX på nett, köpa VERMOX online, Buy generic VERMOX, the "more" in this case are benefits that are extremely subjective (eg curiosity in citizens) and are often sentimental and nostalgic in nature. For these concepts to translate into built form when there are diverse stakeholders present, the arguments and evidence need to be more objective and quantifiable, VERMOX FOR SALE. Attempts at quantifying the economic value biophilic cities have stopped at simply "houses with trees sell for more." While one understands the positive intentions behind biophilic cities, VERMOX use, VERMOX dangers, overly simplistic claims, such as all nature is good, buy VERMOX without prescription, VERMOX schedule, does not lend much credit to the movement.

Overall, VERMOX alternatives, Comprar en línea VERMOX, comprar VERMOX baratos, this book makes a compelling case for including more nature in our cities. Australia, uk, us, usa, In fact, with a little planning, your life will be far better, TRAMADOL australia, uk, us, usa, healthier, TRAMADOL pics, and happier without a car. Oh, and you'll have a lot more money too, TRAMADOL trusted pharmacy reviews.

Author: Chris Balish (Ten Speed Press, Where can i order TRAMADOL without prescription, 2006)
Reviewed by John Calimente, re:place Magazine

As someone who doesn't own a car, I often wonder if those who do ever think about getting rid of theirs, TRAMADOL from canadian pharmacy, due to sheer frustration. The cost, stress, time, and danger inherent in owning and driving a vehicle every day are just not worth the bother, TRAMADOL FOR SALE. Comprar en línea TRAMADOL, comprar TRAMADOL baratos, Chris Balish, a seven-time Emmy award winning broadcast journalist, was someone who wondered the same thing, buy TRAMADOL online cod, but he decided to write a book about it. TRAMADOL images, How to Live Well Without Owning a Car is an awesome book for anyone who has been tempted to either use their car less, get rid of one vehicle in their household, or go entirely car-free, TRAMADOL duration. It details all the reasons why car ownership costs more than we think, Herbal TRAMADOL, and then shows how to go about becoming less car dependent. Even if you're not so inclined, you'll still learn a great deal about the all the issues with car ownership that you might never have thought about, what is TRAMADOL. TRAMADOL FOR SALE, Balish is a convert to car-free life, having been addicted to driving everywhere for everything in his SUV. But at one point he realized how much money he was spending on gas, My TRAMADOL experience, and decided to sell the SUV, fully expecting to buy another, more fuel-efficient vehicle, purchase TRAMADOL for sale. However, TRAMADOL street price, when the purchase went through so quickly that he didn't have time to get another car right away, he began using other ways to get around like light rail and his bicycle. The clincher was finding that at the end of the month he had an extra $800 in his bank account that would have otherwise been spent on his car, order TRAMADOL from United States pharmacy. After realizing that the reason he was in debt was all the money he was lavishing on his SUV, Is TRAMADOL addictive, he decided to stay car-free.

Balish makes the simple point that "If you can get to work without a car, in most cases you can live without a car." While this is true, I would add that one can also live well if you live in a walkable neighbourhood full of amenities, shops, and services, TRAMADOL FOR SALE.

The author hammers home the point that a car-free life is the path to financial freedom, the equivalent of a $5, online TRAMADOL without a prescription,000 to $10, TRAMADOL wiki, 000 raise. One good rule of thumb from the book is that true cost of owning any car, new or used, TRAMADOL reviews, is double the purchase price when you include depreciation expense, TRAMADOL dose, maintenance, repairs, gas, TRAMADOL dangers, and insurance. Discount TRAMADOL, Or compare the $300 one-time cost of a decent bike with the $8,000 average yearly cost of owning a car. Like any good salesman, buy TRAMADOL from canada, the author convinces with his own story. TRAMADOL FOR SALE, Since giving up his car he is now completely debt-free, saving 50% of his income, and is on track to retire at age 45. Taking TRAMADOL, Lack of free time is another issue that car owners face. By living far from work, many car owners use up their valuable time doing nothing but sitting in traffic, japan, craiglist, ebay, overseas, paypal. Balish asks readers to imagine what they would do with an extra six hours a week, TRAMADOL without a prescription, which would result from a 10 minute commute rather than a 45 minute commute.

When discussing options to the car, the author notes that transit is safer than driving, TRAMADOL natural, in terms of both lower accident risk and lower crime risk. The number of deaths per 100 million miles travelled is a miniscule 0.01 by transit bus and 0.02 by commuter rail, compared with 0.79 by car, TRAMADOL FOR SALE. Fast shipping TRAMADOL, He then compares the 138 violent crimes reported on commuter trains and 1,364 violent crimes on transit buses in the U.S. with the 34, purchase TRAMADOL online,000 carjackings that take place every year. Rx free TRAMADOL, One thing that the book (published in 2006) pushes a bit too much is the idea that the financial savings from car ownership should be put into a mortgage on a home. While I guess the point is to show the financial benefits of not owning a vehicle, I'm not sure that the purchase of something even more expensive is the best way to go about it, TRAMADOL price, coupon. TRAMADOL FOR SALE, The other point is that the book is meant to persuade you to become less car dependent and shows you how to do it. It doesn't focus on the experience of living car-free, TRAMADOL canada, mexico, india, so a book like Carless in Chicago would be a good sequel if you decide to give up your car.

I liked that Balish notes that car owners don't have a love affair with cars, but an addiction to them, where can i buy TRAMADOL online. He says that "Most people spend their entire lives feeding this addiction with precious time and money simply because they don't know any other way." Driving is the new smoking, TRAMADOL long term, because it's just as bad for our health. Apparently the average American now walks only 275 metres a day, the equivalent of about three blocks.

It all boils down to: less car = more money, more time, better health, and less stress, TRAMADOL FOR SALE. Of course, most people need to be convinced of these benefits, which is why I highly recommend this book. Balish writes well and informs the reader with feasible solutions to car ownership. And a great bonus is all the hilarious and thought-provoking illustrations by Andy Singer.

- from the introduction

Written by Thomas Fisher (Princeton Architectural Press - 2010)
Review by Sean Ruthen, re:place magazine

At a time when the profession of architecture is taking a long and hard look at itself - certainly due to massive layoffs of interns and seasoned veterans alike - and reconsidering its tenuous relationship to the real estate industry as well as the massive movements of capital that fuel the present day construction, the profession needs to urgently rethink its unsustainable relationship to designing ‘starchitecture’ for the rich. Purchase XOPENEX online no prescription, This goes hand-in-hand with asking at what point it becomes morally reprehensible to design expensive residential towers as people are having their homes foreclosed.

This is one of the many questions asked by Thomas Fisher, buy XOPENEX without a prescription, XOPENEX photos, Dean of Design at the University of Minnesota, in his book Ethics for Architects: 50 Dilemmas of Professional Practice (Princeton Architectural Press 2010), effects of XOPENEX. Buy XOPENEX from mexico, Its relevance is in its current viewpoint, having been written in the time since the onset of the recession in late 2008, XOPENEX steet value. Purchase XOPENEX, As such, much of the book is able to posit many ethical problems from the point of view of the present bust in the profession’s ‘boom and bust’ cycle, doses XOPENEX work, Where can i buy cheapest XOPENEX online, dealing with dilemmas associated with employee layoffs, working pro bono, XOPENEX schedule, Order XOPENEX from United States pharmacy, and the tough decision of walking away from a job if the client is forcing the architect into an ethical corner.

Other scenarios he posits include one in which a client from another culture demands all the women be taken off the design team, and another in which the firm doesn’t pay overtime, along with pondering what to do if one discovers their client is morally bankrupt, BUY XOPENEX NO PRESCRIPTION. With fifty quotes prefacing each of the fifty dilemmas, XOPENEX wiki, Order XOPENEX online c.o.d, Fisher draws his inspiration in many instances directly from the quote - whether Confucius or Martin Luther King Jr. - offering up rich explorations of many contemporary problems facing architects in the process, online buy XOPENEX without a prescription. Purchase XOPENEX online, Exploring issues of ethical philosophy at the same time, he also draws upon such heavyweights as Nietzsche, where can i find XOPENEX online, Get XOPENEX, Foucault, and Wittgenstein, XOPENEX over the counter, XOPENEX maximum dosage, with his American stripe showing in his numerous citations of Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, XOPENEX price, coupon, XOPENEX alternatives, and Benjamin Franklin (also an architect).

It his discussions, comprar en línea XOPENEX, comprar XOPENEX baratos, Buy cheap XOPENEX no rx, however, of Adam Smith and Immanuel Kant which provide the book’s real girth, generic XOPENEX, XOPENEX forum, specifically in the application of their ideologies to architecture and its current ethical malaise. With Smith being the father of capitalism BUY XOPENEX NO PRESCRIPTION, in the West, Kant’s notion of the categorical imperative provides the other concept with which many of the problems are framed throughout the book. With each quote and question followed by a terse 500 word essay, XOPENEX class, Buy XOPENEX online cod, the book reads at times like Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra, ranting madly from a mountaintop in aphoristic style, discount XOPENEX. My XOPENEX experience, While at other times, it is more like Machiavelli’s The Prince in its cold critique of the failures of laissez-faire economics now apparent in the wake of government deregulation in the US, rx free XOPENEX. XOPENEX samples, Fisher doesn’t pull his punches here, succinctly summing up our present age of grotesque excess in the metaphor of a bridge undergoing structural failure after years of neglect and misuse: “…we have put in place a fracture-critical global financial system, online buying XOPENEX, Effects of XOPENEX, in which the failure of a couple of investment banks set off a chain-reaction collapse of the credit and stock markets around the world; a fracture-critical transportation system, in which the dependence on fossil fuels compromises both our energy and our national security; and even fracture-critical suburban developments, buy XOPENEX without a prescription, XOPENEX without prescription, in which the foreclosure and bank-sale of a few houses have led to the collapse in price of all the other identical houses in a neighbourhood.” There is a nagging question recurring in Fisher’s book, a sense that much of our present age’s misery could have been avoided if moderation had been observed sooner. Given our current situation - whether we’re talking about architecture, the economy, the environment, or the housing bubble - he reminds us that these are all foremost questions of ethics.

Using the AIA Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct as the framework for the chapters of his book, Fisher examines in seven to eight vignettes a hypothetical situation in which the architect must evaluate their ethical relationship with the public, the client, the profession, their colleagues, and the environment, BUY XOPENEX NO PRESCRIPTION. In many instances, Fisher concludes, that honesty and prudence will carry the day, as summed up most appropriately in the quote he provides from Mark Twain – “When in doubt, tell the truth.” As such, the ethical scenarios range from the large and overarching (i.e those related to the homeless and natural disasters) to the more local and incidental (such as inter-office relationships and cheating on an architectural examination).

Suffice to say that any book aimed at architects which is bereft of any images or drawings is at best a hard sell; Ethics for Architects nevertheless proves itself to be a useful resource for the modern architect, whether just starting a sole proprietorship or a seasoned partner in a large office. While not as thorough as Tom Spector’s The Ethical Architect (recently reviewed by re:place here) in its direct relation to the decisions architects make and how ethical philosophy could begin to influence these decisions, it redeems itself as a primer of contemporary ethics in the profession as firmly grounded in the here-and-now. Finally, as the fifth book in the Princeton Architectural Press series entitled Architecture Briefs - with the other books featuring architectural treatises on drawing, digital photography, building envelopes, and computer modeling - this volume, like the others, can help to shed light onto the subject of architecture as it continues to redefine itself in our uncertain times.

CIALIS FOR SALE, Zooming out from the specifics of this project, U-TT then presents a manifesto “Where do we go from here, and what shall we do today?,” a call-to-action that seemed among the most insightful. The reason is that it directly addresses designers, planners and thinkers, the true audience of this volume, and those most enabled to put this wisdom into practice.

The succinct and provocative format of Manifestos does a fantastic job of bringing together diverse, and sometimes opposing, views on the contemporary city. The simplicity and rhythm of the works presented here, liberated from the weight of contributors’ vast bodies of work, makes the book both intellectually stimulating and digestible. The absence of an editorial seam commenting on or linking the works together is profound rather than lacking: these manifestos stand for themselves, uncluttered by analysis or comparison (a theme mirrored by the Manifesto’s clean design). In the MAK Center for Art and Architecture’s mandate to “promote meaningful cultural exchange between diverse nations on complex urban phenomena,” Urban Future Manifestos lays out a network of smart, engaged and critical global thinkers that will be key to the future of the world’s cities.

Review by Sean Ruthen, re:place magazine

In a world where the number of computer programming languages has surpassed that of conventional human languages, Form+Code is an important cipher to interpret and comprehend this future, and as such, a source of inspiration upon which architects and designers may draw to visualize this brave new world. Edited by Casey Reas and Chandler McWilliams, both professors in the Department of Design Media Arts at UCLA, where can i order RETINA without prescription, this visually arresting - and urgently relevant - publication is an attempt to baptize the uninitiated into the world of computer programming, What is RETINA, as well as illuminate its seemingly unlimited potential as a source for the visual arts and architecture.

Featuring the work of architects both exploring and exploiting computers in all their permutations and computations - Morphosis, SHoP, order RETINA no prescription, Zaha Hadid, RETINA cost, and OMA - the book also includes the work of Philip Beesley, whose beautifully haunting ‘Hylozoic Ground’ forms are currently representing Canada at the 2010 Venice Biennale. From the first page one knows we’re not in Kansas anymore, RETINA natural, as a literal definition of code (along with examples) is followed on the second page by the definition of an algorithm, Buy RETINA without prescription, with the third page passing at lightning speed to the concept of ‘source code’. But as the book’s introduction says, this is not a textbook to educate non-computer programmers, RETINA trusted pharmacy reviews, and so does not intend that one fully understand code beyond its incidental aesthetic qualities.  As such, Effects of RETINA, it seeks only to present the seemingly endless array of possibilities to be mined from the marriage of computer language with art.

The book describes how the work of such conceptual artists as John Cage and Yoko Ono sought to imagine a human computer language, whereby their art becomes an instruction on how to perform our most banal day-to-day activities, much as a line of C++ or Java produces a cylinder or sphere, RETINA OVER THE COUNTER. This perhaps represents the extreme, as the book primarily focuses on the visual stimuli capable with this technology, purchase RETINA online, providing in the process a brief history lesson of how certain key moments in the writing of computer code have resulted in such revolutionary phenomena as the world wide web and digital imagery. Generic RETINA, The book also states that we have now reached a point in history where it is possible for a computer programmer to think in terms of different programming codes the same way a carpenter thinks about working with different species of wood. Using LOGO and BASIC as two examples, the authors give us the same instruction to draw a triangle in the two different programming languages, RETINA treatment, showing how each iteration is a unique object in itself. Ordering RETINA online, This then forms the basis of beginning to imagine code as a visual aesthetic, and forms the premise upon which the book is based - as a chronological treatise on how code through history has influenced art and architecture. RETINA OVER THE COUNTER, Looking back at where the connection to code and the arts began, the editors point to the 1940s when, because of the war effort, calculations were needed to be done in a short time, and as such code and art have not always been so complimentary to each other. But of course with the unprecedented arrival of personal computing devices in the 1980s, buy RETINA no prescription, much of this has changed, RETINA overnight, despite the fact that all of our new technology runs on code, whether binary or otherwise.

Perhaps the most important distinction made in the book is the two different ways in which codes and computers have influenced art – through production and conception, japan, craiglist, ebay, overseas, paypal. Not wholly unrelated, Order RETINA online overnight delivery no prescription, these two uses of the computer as a tool are beneficial to the field of architecture, as sophisticated programs like Revit use the most cutting edge computer language to express the architect’s vision, while CAD and other programs are used to produce fabrication drawings to aid in the physical construction of the building, RETINA forum. Code even affects the project’s delivery, Online buying RETINA hcl, right down to the critical path method for calculating the schedule of the job.

While the book is rich visually, its content is equally as important, RETINA OVER THE COUNTER. Its straightforward explanations of CNC and SLS milling technologies, is alone worth the price of admission, RETINA without prescription. The book starts with two expository-like chapters – What is Code? and Form and Computers – followed by the real meat of the book, Is RETINA safe, both visually and conceptually, consisting of five chapters representing the ways form and code play upon each other.

Repeat, buy generic RETINA, the first of these is a no-brainer, RETINA alternatives, as it is an obvious and regular occurrence of code and form - as in the repetition of structural columns of a building, or the repeated images in a Andy Warhol painting, as compared to a series of ones and zeros in a computer code, RETINA class, or the beads on an ancient mathematician’s abacus. Get RETINA, The next chapter, Transform, requires a little more stretch of the imagination, buy no prescription RETINA online. RETINA OVER THE COUNTER, It describes how the computer and its many languages have been utilized for transforming our visual field - whether to sculpt an object in a space that doesn’t exist, or use digital photography to create a fiction in the real world. The painting Three Flags by Jasper Johns is provided as an example of 'transform' occuring before the advent of the computer, Where can i buy cheapest RETINA online, as is grafitti, which is itself, to a certain extent, low dose RETINA, a kind of code that occurs in the social realm, Buy RETINA online cod, as an instruction of anti-establishment.

The next chapter, Parameterize, RETINA recreational, delves more deeply into the theoretical armature of code.  The term is used to denote the act of identifying and describing the variable elements of a process. Order RETINA online c.o.d, For example, the amount of sugar required in a recipe is a simple instance of a parameter. The point here is that in a physical universe we are limited by parameters such as gravity and entropy, online buy RETINA without a prescription, while the parameterization capable with a computer is endless, RETINA price, coupon, and as such, if we can visualize it we can virtually make it real.

The next chapter, Vision, is an exposition on the aesthetic properties of a bar graphs or transit system maps, the most basic tools we create to visualize and understand complex systems that we experience every day, RETINA OVER THE COUNTER. The final chapter, RETINA images, Simulate, RETINA from canadian pharmacy, focuses on our culture's fixation with video games and digital animation in Hollywood movies.

Looking back through history, there have been several instances where the annotation of some other art has informed the ‘form’ of architecture, RETINA pharmacy. Perhaps one of the most famous examples is the mathematician and composer Iannis Xenakis collaborating with Le Corbusier. If one looks closely at Corb’s La Tourette monastery, one can see Xenakis’ stochastic music written in the fenestration patterns of the building’s elevations. RETINA OVER THE COUNTER, With the more recent technological advances in both music and architecture, what these two could realize today boggles the mind.

Bruce Mau’s Massive Change in 2005 was also in the spirit of Form+Code, although it was more a commentary on the collisions of populations, economics, and technology, while this book is more concerned only with technology. Still, Mau’s show was one of the first to observe the aesthetics of our brave new world - laptops and all - and how some of the incidental representations of this new virtual world takes on an aesthetic all of its own. He illustrated this in his wall-sized graphic of yearly flight paths in and around the continental North America, here in the book echoed by Aaron Koblin's Flight Patterns - a real-time satellite image of the US and Canada, showing the nighttime movement of air traffic across the country as light signatures.

Form+Code could very well be the most up-to-date publication on how computer languages continue to impact themselves on our visual world and affect the forms we see and the objects we touch. With each passing year there are several new computer languages created, affecting us in some new way, shape or form, and enabling us to partake in the invisible universe of information around us. The book is Alice's rabbit beckoning us down the rabbit hole, into a world where anything is possible.

Canada Line Adventures

December 22, 2010

canada_line_tfanIt's only been around a little more than a year now, but the Canada Line already has a guidebook. If you'd like a handy and information-packed summary of what each Canada Line station has to offer, this is your book. By Noam Dolgin (2010) Reviewed by John Calimente, re:place Magazine As I've mentioned in past articles, I love exploring new transit routes. It's something about the sense of exploration - seeing a familiar street from a new viewpoint or enjoying that it has become part of the larger transit network and now easily accessible. Riding the Canada Line has been even more fun, because it a rapid transit line adds speed to the mix. Waterfront to Broadway? Now just 15 minutes. Downtown Richmond? 25 minutes. Somehow that mix of connectivity and speed makes destinations that were formerly not worth the trouble to visit are instead full of possibility. Local author Noam Dolgin must know how I feel. Not six months after the Line had opened, he already had a book published and ready for the influx of Olympic visitors.  He put together a guide to allow riders to see the Canada Line not just as a means of transportation to commute to work, but as a way to access a series of destinations ripe for exploration. While he grew up in the neighbourhood of King Edward Station, Dolgin's transit "a-ha" moment came when he moved to New York City. Living along the F-Line which connects 179th Street in Queens, Manhattan, and Coney Island in Brooklyn, he realized how easy it was to live without a car and fully enjoy the city using the subway. Dolgin wanted to share that experience with readers and give them a tool to use the Canada Line for recreation, not just for work, in the hope that readers will fall in love with it just as he has. The guide opens with a handy list of all the bus routes from each of the stations, an explanation of the fare zone system, and a history of the Canada Line construction. Dolgin writes a two-page spread for each of the 16 stations, starting with Waterfront and ending at YVR-Airport. Each station has short write-ups under nine categories, such as 'food', 'entertainment', 'heritage buildings', and 'special points of interest'. He also includes a walking tour near each station. Dolgin discovers interesting sights and activities that I never knew existed, such as the UBC Boathouse along River Road near Aberdeen Station and  the frisbee golf course in Queen Elizabeth Park. I'd also never paid attention to the fact that if you stand on the Olympic Village station platform looking north, the tunnels appear circular, whereas looking south they appear rectangular. This is because the station is the point where the bored tunnel from the north meets the "cut and cover" method of construction that was used to the south. Dolgin noted in an interview for the book that "the most environmentally friendly thing we can do is live in high-density neighbourhoods and get around by public transit." I welcome more books like this that celebrate just how much enjoyment public transit adds to the experience of city living. Canada Line Adventures also reinforced for me that it is a hell of a lot of fun to be a tourist in your own city. And it is even more fun when you can do it on rapid transit. So get out there and find that former church now operating as a gun club! ** If you're interested in exploring what the Expo Line has to offer, SkyTrain Explorer: Heritage Walks from Every Station by John Atkin is highly recommended. ** John Calimente is the president of Rail Integrated Developments. Natural Architecture - The Joy of Living in Harmony

December 8, 2010

book_fuentes_naturalarchitectureA critical look at Natural Architecture - The Joy of Living in Harmony. Author: Fernando de Haro and Omar Fuentes (AM Editores, 2010) - translated by: Louis Loizides Reviewed by Ellen Zeigler Natural Architecture - The Joy of Living in Harmony is a glossy, full-colour picture book of exclusive resort-style architecture in Mexico. Translated from Spanish to English, this large coffee-table book features pages of images of wealthy homes situated in picturesque landscapes. The loose geographic narrative Sea, Lake and Mountain tends to be somewhat lost in translation and the small amount of text is mostly a series of romantic verses: "Tasting: It's invisible but it's there. From the sea comes the breeze, the fragrance of life, the rumbling of the waves." I don't know about the Spanish version, but in English, it walks the fine line between flakey and romantic. My first instinct when reading through the book was to berate the author for not offering enough details about what "living in harmony with nature" really means. But as I flipped through the pages I realized that the authors don't discuss any details at all. There is not enough sufficient content to criticize. There is no talk of designs in nature being mimicked in architecture, there is no mention of natural or local materials, there are just images of beautiful homes in beautiful settings. It's a visual index of wealthy architectural details. Out of 239 pages, 89 of them featured infinity edge pools-often on a two-page spread. That's nearly forty percent of the book! Not to mention the detrimental impacts have on the "natural" environment. That being said, I can't deny that if I were given the opportunity to spend a week or two at any of the places that graced the pages of this book, I would happily accept. The architecture is stunning and the landscape is breathtaking. But it brings me to a face-to-face with a dilemma: at what point do we allow ourselves to forget about all the problems in the world and go swim in an infinity pool in a desert in southern Mexico? Or at what point do I allow myself to enjoy flipping through a romantic architecture book without feeling like its kind of a waste of time. If every person in the world was given the opportunity to spend time at one of these relaxing homes, I'm sure the world would be a much happier place. But the truth is less than 1% of the population will ever visit, or even set eyes on one of these homes... and that seems pretty unnatural. *** Ellen Ziegler, b.ends, is graphic and architectural designer and a proud co-founder of studioCAMP.
